The Grandson of global racing icon and motorsport innovator, three-time World Formula One Champion, Sir Jack. Immensely talented and successful, Matt has shown the ability to forge his own wheel tracks and carry on the peerless Brabham name.

His decision to become a professional racing car driver was born around the dinner table, listening to stories from his Grandfather, father Geoff and Uncles Gary and David. Geoff and David both won the classic Le Mans 24 hour race.

Matt was born in Florida, USA in 1994, but grew up in Australia and holds dual citizenship in both countries. He started Karting when he was 7 years old in Australia for fun, but quickly started to win races. When he finished his karting career at the age of 14 he had won 4 State Titles and had nearly 40 individual race wins.

He was selected to join the CAMS Rising Star Formula Ford Team in 2010 in his first year of open wheel race car competition. In 2011 he moved to the Sonic Racing Services outfit, and even though he did not contest the full year because of exams in his final year at school, he still found time to win 10 races including an outright win in the National Formula Ford Championship.

Matt headed for the USA in 2012 and won the USF2000 Mazda Road to Indy Championship in his rookie year. Moving up to the next rung of the Mazda Road to Indy in 2013, and now driving for Andretti Autosport, he smashed all records for most wins (13), most poles and laps led, to convincingly win his second championship in a row.

Staying with Andretti Autosport Matt moved up to Indy lights and scored a win at the Indianapolis Speedway Road Course, and finished fourth in the championship. Matt’s dream is to win the Indianapolis 500 and to become a Formula One World Champion. He is well on his way and is prepared to sacrifice everything to achieve his goals.

• 2014: Drove in the Indy Lights Championship with Andretti Autosport. Finished 4th in the Championship with (1) win at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course. (2) seconds and (1) third. Assigned Gold status in FIA rankings. Reserve driver for Andretti Autosport Formula E team, competed at the Malaysian and Uruguay events. Retained BRDC Rising Start membership for a second year.

• 2013: Pro Mazda Champion and Rookie of the year 2013, driving for Andretti Autosport. Holds the all time series records for the most race wins (13) including (7) seven in a row, most podiums (15) and fastest laps (13) in a single season. Awarded BRDC Rising Star membership

• 2012: USF2000 Champion and Rookie of the Year 2012, driving for Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing. (4) Four wins, (5) five second and (2) two third places, (8) eight fastest laps, (3) three track records and (6) six pole positions also helped to secure the Team USA Scholarship

• 2011: Won (8) eight out of 12 Australian Formula Ford Victorian State Series races, including (7) seven in a row, with Sonic Motor Racing Services. Matthew also took (2) two Australian National Championship victories, (2) two seconds and a pole position

• 2010: Matthew contested the Victorian State Series with the CAMS Rising Star Team in 2010, taking a (1) pole and (1) one race win

• 2001 - 2009: Started karting aged seven, competing in the Australian Midget class. Won (21) races between 2001 and 2005, and the New South Wales State Title in 2004. Signed-off from an illustrious karting career with the Junior Rotax crown in 2009, sealing (6) six titles in two years including the New South Wales and Queensland State Junior National Lights, Queensland State Rookie, South East Queensland State Rookie and Yamaha titles.
