Brabham happy with progress

Matthew Brabham made a lightning trip to Sebring Fl last week, for a two day test with his new team Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing.
This was the first time that all three team drivers were on the track together, plus drivers from rival teams Belardi Auto Racing and Pabst Racing. The first day ended with Matthew fastest, although the times were very close between the Cape Motorsport with Wayne Taylor Racing drivers.
The second day the USF2000 competitors were joined by a multitude of SCCA club racers, unfortunately lap times quickly became meaningless as getting a clear lap was impossible. However Matthew took the opportunity to hone in on adapting to the wings and slicks style of driving needed with the Van Diemen Elan chassis.
"It was a tiring trip, but I really need as many miles as I can at the moment and this was a good opportunity to do that". Matthew said on his return to Australia. "It was good to match the times of my more experienced teammates on the first day, and I am really looking forward to what I am sure will be a very competitive year."
Matthew returns to the USA at the end of this month and will stay until the season finishes in September. The first competitive outing for the young third generation driver will be the USF2000 Winter Series to be held at Sebring on Feb 6 and 7 and Palm Beach on Feb 11 and 12. The first round of the The Cooper Tires Presents the USF2000 National Championship Powered by Mazda will be held as a support race to the Sebring 12 hour race on Mar 16.
