Matthew Brabham endured his toughest weekend this year, at the Australian National Formula Ford Championship round held at the Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit.

The normally ultra competitive third generation driver struggled for pace at a circuit he rates as one of his favourites. Despite the Sonic Teams best efforts, a solution to Matty Brabs' problems unfortunately was not found. For the first time this year Matthew was not able to challenge for a win and had to settle for a disappointing 8th place finish.

So far this season Matthew has had 10 race wins and 3 seconds, of the three National races he competed in the results have been a first, second and now an uncharacteristic 8th.

"I am not sure at the moment what went wrong this weekend". A frustrated Matthew later said. “I felt I was lacking grip in the middle of the corner, and that was making the run onto the straights really slow. It did not matter what we changed, it did not make any difference. Also in the last race I had a problem with the throttle pedal which made driving very difficult. Anyway we have had such a great year I suppose we were due for a tough one.”

Matthew is now going to take a break from racing until his Year 12 studies come to an end in early November.
